FAQ

Boat Rental Agreement Template FAQ

Something else? Email support@bookcollie.com and a real person answers.

Do I need a waiver and a rental agreement?

Most boat rental businesses use both. The agreement covers the rental itself (the boat, price, deposit, damage and rules), and the waiver records that renters understand and accept the risks. This template combines them, with the waiver as its own section that every passenger can sign.

Can renters sign the boat rental agreement on their phone?

Yes. Upload the agreement to your booking software and send it for e-signature with each booking. Renters sign on their phone before they arrive, and you get a signed PDF with a record of when and how they signed.

Is an electronic signature valid on a boat rental agreement?

In the US, the federal ESIGN Act and state laws based on the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act generally give electronic signatures the same effect as handwritten ones when the signer agrees to sign electronically and a record is kept. Ask a local attorney about your state.

Does every passenger need to sign?

The renter signs the agreement. Many operators also ask every adult passenger to sign the waiver section, and a parent or guardian to sign for minors. Check with your attorney and insurer what they recommend.

Is this template legally sufficient for my state?

It's a starting point, not legal advice. Laws on rentals, waivers and boating vary by state, so have a local attorney review and adapt it before you use it.
